SPLIT SPOON SAMPLER:

AS PER IS: 2131-1963 & 9640-1980.

Introduction:

• This is used for Standard Penetration Test.
• For determining penetration resistance (N Value) of soil which can be related to unconfined Compressive strength, Penetration resistance (N Value) of soil is determined by giving a number of blows with a 65kg weight falling through a given distance of  75cm required to penetrate the assembly to a depth of 30cm, when properly seated on the ground.

General Description and Specifications:

• The sampler is made from a steel tube split lengthwise and held together by a head fitted with a ball check valve and a hardened steel shoe of inside cutting edge of 35 mm dia.
• The sampler is 35 mm I.D. and 50.8 mm in outer diameter and 508 mm / long. One adaptor to connect 'A' type drill rods is also supplied.

Spares: Body of split spoon sampler, shoe of split spoon sampler, head of split spoon sampler.

SPLIT SPOON SAMPLER WITH LINER

General Description and Specifications:

• Same as above but the diameter is increased to accommodate a brass liner.
• Complete with brass liner. Spares: Body, shoe & Head of split spoon sampler. And Brass liner.

Note: The above outfits can also be supplied in FPS Units in conformity with ASTM D 1586-64T (Penetration test and split barrel sampling of soils).

Accessories: Drive weight 65 kg with chain. IS: 2131-1963. Drive pipe assembly with two end caps of mild steel to give a fall of 75 cms for drive weight.
