A) RANGE OF EXPERIMENTS:

  • To determine the Reynolds number & hence the type of flow either laminar or turbulent.
  • To determine upper & lower critical Reynolds numbers and velocity.
  • To study dye flow visualizations of laminar, transitional, turbulent flow.
  • Study of change of flow pattern from laminar to turbulent as a function of reynolds appratus.
  • Calculation of critical velocity & critical reynolds numbers.
  • Study of pipe flow & related reynolds number co-relation.
  • Co-relation of reynolds number, nature of flow & comparison with data available in literature.
 
B) SPECIFICATIONS:
  • Storage tank with flow steadying arrangements.
  • Tank 70 Litres approximately.
  • Storage tank is made up of PVC sheet.
  • Measuring Flask.
  • Dye bottle & Needles.
  • Control valve : Material : Brass, Gate valve.
  • Acrylic tube of Size : 1’’ inch .
  • Suitable stand to mount the acrylic tube.
  • Piping: Acrylic piping with valves.
  • Digital stop watch.
  • Frame: Made of M.S square tubes & sheets, welded & powder coated.
 
C) SERVICES REQUIRED:
  • Suitable water supply arrangement.
  • Suitable drainage arrangement.
  • Floor Space: 1.5 m X 0.5 m approximately.
